Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow in Not Just Nudes, Review & Swatch

Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow in 710, Not Just Nudes
0.12 oz.-$5-Made in USA with US and non-US components-Permanent

I really liked another one of these creme quads, the one in Seashells, and I had high hopes for this quad too because I love nude shadows.

There's several things to know about this line of creme shadows:
-they are very sheer colors when you blend them out
-they are very prone to creasing
-the two palettes I have had have each come with three shimmer shades and one matte shade

The formula of these shadows is a lot creamier that the other palette I own, which is a plus. They blend very easily, but loose most of their pigmentation when you do. I have to layer the color two or three times to get a distinct color on the lid.

A big difference about this palette is the smell. There is definitely no smell with my other palette, but there's a distinct cosmetic, plastic smell with this one. It's really gross.

You can't tell from the close-up of colors but the third color from the left is the matte one in the palette. It would actually make a really good concealer color for those of darker skin than mine. The first shade (the lightest) is a perfect match for my skintone and is a really good base color for my lid because it masks some of the discoloration and veins.

As you can see from the swatches, the colors are pretty pigmented when they're first applied, but they sheer out as soon as you try to blend them.

These shadows are formulated with two kinds of silicas as wellas methylparaben, ethylparaben, and propylparaben. So the ingredients kind of suck. But this quad costs four dollars so you can't really expect stellar ingredients.

The Pros:
The colors would work for any skintone, and they're very creamy

The Cons:
Sheer, smell weird, and the ingredients suck.

The Bottom Line
7.5/10
I love the colors, but I can't wear them alone because there's just not enough pigmentation. They're good as bases, and that's about it.

  3. I have been using this little quad for quite some time now. Like the past couple years for my neutral palette. I adore it! So easy to blend. I have bought a few of them, but never noticed any smell.

    1. The smell was really weird because none of my other quads had it, but this one definitely does. I'm thinking that maybe I got some of the older stock because it was the second to last one on the self!

    1. So do I! I wish companies would do without parabens all together. I would buy so much more of their products if they did xoxo
