Fall is my favorite season for makeup-I love to wear darker berry tones because I think it works really well with my pale skin and dark hair. I also really love September issues of magazines-Zooey Deschanel was on Marie Claire and she looked stunning, as always!
Picking a good lip color for fall can be hard because if you go too red or orange toned it can easily look like you couldn't let go of summer. If you're struggling to make darker lips work, I like to put a light layer of lipstick over top of a lip balm and rub it in with my fingers to soften the intensity of the color, and make it appear more like a stain.
It's also easy to go too purple with a lip color-the bottom silver tube of lipstick in the photo is from Prestige Cosmetics, "Snob", and while it looks like a gorgeous fall color, it's definitely too vampy for my skintone. Too brown can be an issue too, like the green tube which is "Baby, Baby" from Clinique.
When in doubt, I like to go with a brighter berry color. I mean, you're already going berry toned, why not go all out? Those kinds of shades work really well with a more neutral outfit, and are very easy to wear because of it.
So if you're starting out with bolder berry lips for fall, I recommend first checking out Revlon's line of Lip Butter lipsticks-they've got some really great berry shades like Berry Smoothie or Raspberry Pie. They're also really moisturizing and can be sheered out or built up so they're really easy to wear & not look like a fool.
So I'd love to know what your favorite lip shade to wear for fall is! Lipstick, lip balm, or lip gloss-let me know in the comments below.
